Endoscopy is a procedure we use to view a person’s ear, nose, throat, larynx and adjoining areas – and is advanced technology that provides very accurate diagnosis.

The endoscope is the device we use for this procedure — a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, which allows your doctor to get real-time pictures on a Colour TV monitor.

Our approach to endoscopy

We have the country’s first ORLvision USB CCD camera video-endoscope and otoscope system. This allows patients to watch their own examination via a high definition monitor or laptop on the doctor’s desk.

The CCD camera with this system gives incredibly clear views of the ear, nose, throat, larynx and adjoining areas during the procedure. We typically perform the procedure without local anaesthetic, as it causes no pain. For some patients, we use a local anaesthetic spray to provide more comfort.
