Lumenis Lightsheer Desire

HealthHub has just purchased the state of the art Lumenis Lightsheer Desire diode laser system for permanent hair removal.

The system uses a tip cooling and suction application, which means that each session of laser hair removal is relatively painless, with minimal superficial skin damage. Furthermore, the variety of laser head sizes — from 9mm x 9mm for smaller areas, up to 22mm x 35mm — allows us to treat large areas quickly and with minimal discomfort.

Diode laser technology using pulsed light of 805nm wavelength is the gold standard treatment for hair removal in most skin types, combining high absorption in the melanin wavelength with little surface effect – resulting in good permanent hair removal, with fewer side effects and less pain than other lasers such as the Alexandrite, and better efficacy than Nd-YAG.

Lumenis is the market leader for most clinical laser systems worldwide, and has an excellent UK distribution and servicing centre. HealthHub has a comprehensive servicing package with Lumenis, which means the laser should never be out of action due to technical problems — unlike the rarer, more exotic laser systems from Eastern Europe or China.

Mr. Mike Dilkes, who will oversee all aspects of laser hair removal at HealthHub, was one of the first doctors in the UK to be involved in permanent laser hair removal using the Lumenis system. Mr. Dilkes received professional training directly from a pioneer in Lumenis hair removal, Mr. Peter Noren, at his clinic in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1996. Mr. Noren was the first person in the world to successfully treat and publish on permanent laser hair removal.
