According to new research, women’s body clocks run faster than men’s — which may explain why some have women have trouble falling asleep.
- Women’s sleep wake cycle runs 2 hours ahead that of men. Sleep differences occur regardless of hormonal changes
- Female shift workers experience greater fatigue, sleepiness and have an increased risk of work-related injury.
- Faced with similar stressors, women are more likely to experience poor sleep
“Even though the study is small, it definitely adds knowledge to our scientific literature on sex differences in sleep in context of circadian rhythm,” said Monica Mallampalli, vice president of scientific affairs at the Society for Women’s Health Research in Washington, D.C
