hotel bedThe Japanese say that if you change your pillow, you can’t find sleep. We do not sleep very well in new places and it is something we must have experienced at one time.

A new study carried out in Japan has shown that when we sleep in a new place, the brain will remain alert for potential threats. It explains why people have poor quality sleep on their first night in a hotel.

The researchers found that a network in the left hemisphere of the brain showed greater activity than in the right hemisphere during the slow-wave phase of sleep.
