Weight Loss through Diet Changes Can Improve Sleep at Any Body Weight, Says Penn Study

Researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania have undertaken a study that shows weight loss due to dietary changes can improve sleepiness at any weight.

Previous studies have long associated lack of energy during the day, persistent sleepiness and poor sleep quality with obesity. The knowledge gaps have existed in little is known on the link between poor dietary habits, excessive weight and sleep/wake abnormalities.

The findings of the study have also offered insights into how weight will affect the many different aspects of sleep independent of body weight. According to Sigrid Veasey, MD, co-author of the study, the study maps a completely new food and sleep interactions.
