Mindful eating could be the solution that overweight people could be seeking when trying to shed excess weight, according to a study carried out in the US. It could be combined with exercise and diet in the management of weight.
Mindful eating is all about adopting habits that promote awareness in the desire to eat and the actual sensations of hunger, in fullness, in satisfaction and in enjoyment.
The researchers found that people who practiced mindful eating had lower blood sugar levels and improvement in the levels of triglycerides and cholesterol levels. These improvements led to the lower risk of metabolic syndrome and heart disease.
