Sleep Disorders Increase Stroke Risk, Harm Recovery

A study published in the journal Neurology indicates that sleep disorders increase the risk of stroke and hinder recovery from the condition.

Sleep disorders are classified into sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) such as obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and sleep-wake disorders (SWD) such as insomnia. SDB is most severe in patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. Lack of treatment will hamper the recovery from stroke.
