Single Mothers at Greatest Risk for Sleep Problems

mother-and-childA new survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) puts the number of people who have sleep problems at between 50 and 70 million. Furthermore, the CDC points out that 33 percent of all adults do not even sleep for seven hours. The National Sleep Foundation recommends that adults should strive to get 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

The survey further reveals that single mother of children aged 18 years and below were more likely to get less than seven hours of sleep per night compared to adults of other family types. The effects of lack of sleep may lead to an increased risk of depression, heart disease and diabetes.
