Parents with both young children and pets in the home are warned against the risk of pet medication poisoning. The problem is more pronounced for toddlers but affects children up to teenagers.
– Medication should not be left lying around. Ensure that the pet swallows their medication and that no medication containing food is left in bowls.
– All pet medication should remain in their properly labeled packages and stored away from human medicines.
– Children who suffer pet medication poisoning should be rushed to a poison control center or nearest hospital to receive appropriate treatment.
“Keep all medicines, including those for pets, in their original, child-resistant containers with the label attached.”
