New Peanut Allergy Trial Has Permanent Cure in Its Sights

ID-100164850Approximately 3 percent of Australian children are allergic to peanuts. Researchers in Sydney have already found and given temporary immunity to some children suffering from the allergy.

The search for a possible permanent cure has gotten a timely boost with a $1.1m government grant for researchers at the Children’s Hospital and the Charles Perkins Centre, Nepean to undertake a four year trial to commence in 2016.

Professor Dianne Campbell says they seek to permanently cure the allergy and even find possible treatments for other food allergies.
