Men’s Sexual Health: Are the Supplements Safe?

supplementsWith about 40 to 70 percent of men experiencing sexual dysfunction, a study has been undertaken to review scientific evidence for the effectiveness and safety of the most common ingredients in top-selling men’s health products.  A majority of men will avoid discussing their sexual health issues with the doctor due to embarrassment resulting to buying over the counter treatments.

The researchers found that the majority of the products out there advertised as natural contained traces of phosphodiesterase-5-inhibitors (PDE5Is) which is found in prescription drugs such as Viagra used to treat erectile dysfunction. The PDE5Is are associated with adverse effects in people with heart disease, end stage kidney disease and liver impairment.
