Long Working Hours May Raise Heart Disease Risk

work-stressPeople working long hours are at the risk of suffering heart disease according to a new study. For the purposes of the study, the researchers analyzed data of about 1,900 people in a long-term study of work.

Their findings were that 43 percent of the participants had been diagnosed with problems such as heart attack, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, angina, heart failure and even stroke which are all cardiovascular diseases.

Starting from 46 hours per week; any additional work hours increased the risk of heart disease. Among the full time employees, the risk increased by one percent for every additional hour worked per week over ten years or more.
