Keep Busy! Stay Sharp!

busy menA study of older adults found that those with busy schedules tended to do better on tests of memory, information processing and reasoning. Previous studies have indicated that learning a new skill helps to improve mental acuity in older adults.

The study author, Sara Festini from the Center for Vital Longevity at the University of Texas, says that being busy is actually good for cognitive capabilities. The busier the study participants were in their lives, the better they performed in the tests given to them.

It is recommended that the older adults get mental, social and physical activity to maintain good mental function and lower the risk of dementia.
