Even Gardening or Dancing May Cut Alzheimer’s Risk

gardeningNew research findings show that the risk of Alzheimer’s disease can be cut by as much as 50 percent through regular physical activity such as dancing and gardening.

The researchers worked with 900 older adults and performed brain scans and analyzed their lifestyle habits. They found that any activity that got them moving on a regular basis led to an increase in the gray matter.

Dr. Cyrus Raji, the lead researcher, says that any physical activity that burns calories leads to more gray matter and results in keeping dementia at bay. The more the gray matter means the healthier the brain and the lower the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
