Exercise helps in temporarily curbing appetite, new research shows. This runs contrary to popular belief among dieters that workouts make them hungrier.
Research published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise indicates that exercise will not make people overeat or even compensate by eating more food. However, this may be true only among people who work out regularly. The less-fit population may be more prone to overeat, according to Kelly Pritchett, assistant professor in nutrition and exercise science at Central Washington University.
