Computer Use May Help Seniors’ Memory Problems

senior-man-with-tabletA study has revealed that seniors who use computers for as little as once a week helped to keep at bay age-related decline in memory and thinking. The study looked at mild cognitive impairment which is a precursor of dementia.

The researchers found that seniors who used a computer had a 42 percent lower risk of developing mild cognitive impairment. The researchers did not reveal the exact association between computer use and the preservation of memory and thinking abilities.

The researchers speculate that seniors using the computer were more likely to adhere to a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, computers are thought to help seniors cope more effectively at a time when memory and thinking problems begin to set in.
