Can Eating More Unsaturated Fats Lower Risk Of Death?

cheeseThe American Heart Association indicates that saturated fat is mainly from animal products such as butter, lamb, cream, cheese, beef, pork, and lamb. However, saturated fat can be from plant products as well such as cocoa butter, coconut and coconut oil, and palm oil.

A new study reveals that high intake of unsaturated fats that include polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats was linked to an 11 to 19 percent lower risk of mortality when compared to the same number of calories from consuming carbohydrates like sugar.

People who replaced saturated fats with unsaturated fats had a much lower overall risk of death and a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, cancer, and respiratory disease.
