New analysis of more 21 clinical trials on foods that included peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas which are collectively referred to as pulses indicates that they can help in weight loss.
Some of these legumes are the most underappreciated foods yet they are full of fiber, proteins, minerals and vitamins. They also have a low glycemic index which means that they are broken down slowly in the digestive track.
The Canadian research reveals that the pulses make people feel full and will help then to shed the unwanted pounds. Even though the weight loss was small, says Russell De Souza, the lead author, including the pulses in your diet will help you lose weight and prevent the pounds from piling back after weight loss.
