People struggling with binge eating disorder could have at least three treatment options to help them deal with the disorder, according to new research. The National Institutes of Health reports that binge eating is estimated to affect 2 percent of men and 3.5 percent of women in the U.S.
Chronic binge eaters can benefit from:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy that will help binge eaters to change their behavior.
- Prescription drugs that will help cure the binge eating disorder. Second generation antidepressants such as Zoloft and Prozac have been shown to help.
- Vyvanse is the only FDA approved drug for binge-eating disorder.
