These foods have a high likelihood of causing digestive trouble:
a) Pears contain natural sugar alcohols (polyols); sorbitol, mannitol and xylitol that ferment in the bowel to cause bloating and wind.
b) Small fruits such as blackberries, raspberries and cherries also contain polyols.
c) Watermelons contain high fructose levels that may cause bloating.
d) Artichokes contain fructans that also causes bloating and wind.
e) Shiitake mushrooms are associated with bloating and wind.
f) Chilled carbs are also known to cause bloating.
g) Peas and beans contain galacto-oligosaccharides that are food for healthy bowel bacteria that could produce some wind.
